Plumassière
"The bird, Man owes the feather, a precious witness to the universal link that man has maintained with nature since the dawn of time". Hélène Farnault
The art of the pen is a sacred art charged with symbolic value, found in all civilizations. The profession of plumassier has existed since the 18th century. In Paris, there were nearly 800 feather shops. Nowadays only about fifty houses and independents continue this tradition.
The 1973 Washington Convention regulates the feather trade to preserve wildlife. The most frequently used feathers are those of edible and farmed species such as roosters, pheasants, ostriches, guinea fowl, turkeys, geese, pigeons, ducks, etc.
